When it comes to feedback, is it better to give than to receive? Hmmm, we’re going to spend our next meeting thinking about that while we nod and pretend to listen.

It’s Wednesday, which means you get a new “HR Besties” podcast episode for your commute or desk enjoyment. This week covers Performance Reviews - quite a timely topic. We even have free performance review guides for managers AND employees in the show descriptions on Apply and Spotify (we’re in the giving mood!).

We break it all down - forced rankings, feedback that isn’t given until it’s review season, and how to exceed their expections (which we try to do for you each week).

BUT, for some “Business,” we’re including discussion questions for your team each week in our email:

• “Work Hard Play Hard”: What does our Careers page look like to potential candidates? Does it reflect what they’ll actually see on Day 1+?

• Performance Review:

  • What do our employees and managers feel going into performance reviews? Why?

  • Do our managers know how to give feedback real-time instead of saving it for review season?

  • Do our employees (including managers) know how to receive feedback?

• Question & Comments: How can you respond if you get feedback you don’t understand or agree with?
