A Very Special Guest (Meeting Crasher Edition)
Talking Customer Experience and Employee Experience
Hey Besties!
Brace yourselves. This week, we’ve got a special guest, and by “special,” we mean he just showed up uninvited and really wanted to be in more meetings (Yeeks!). That’s right, Max aka “Farbsy” (The CEO of Customer Service) is crashing this episode, proving once and for all that some people actually want to attend extra meetings.
But before we get into Farbsy’s takes on customer service and workplace culture, let’s talk about how he got here. See, our guy Farbsy once went viral… at work. No, not for his innovative leadership. Not for some groundbreaking HR policy (those do exist!). But because his boss approved his social media… until she didn’t.
So what happens when a guy who’s too online meets a few HR pros who have seen some things? Listen to find out.
In This Episode:
Intro Story: As the meeting crasher, Farbsy has to tell us a storytime, which made him rethink (and re-film) using the name “John” ever again (and did you ever think “fiscal year” was really “physical year”?).
Corporate Cringe Speak: Max introduces a word that’s a synonym for togetherness, but also somehow means… layoffs? (and hockey sticks, for his fellow Canadian listeners)
Hot Topic: We all know companies love to shout about their customer experience (Seamless! Personalized! Best in class!). But ask those same companies about the employee experience, and suddenly it’s “We did a survey last year. Didn’t you see the results?”
Here’s the thing: if you don’t invest in your employees, your customers are going to feel it. (And trust us, they’ll talk about it in your reviews.) So, how can companies give the same energy to their employees as they do their customers? We give our tips.
Questions & Comments: We asked Farbsy what he wanted to know from us, and of course, he had a hard-hitting question: What’s your favorite question for candidates to ask in job interviews? We each give our recommendations… do you have a good one? Reply and let us know.
Discussion Guide – For Your Next Podcast Discussion Group or Team Meeting:
Customers v. Employees: Who are our customers, and do we treat them differently than employees? Do we hold ourselves to the same standard in how we treat employees as we do with customers? If employees got the same experience as top clients, what would change?
The Bottom Line: What are the things each department does that impacts revenue (directly or indirectly)?
Talk About It: Have those departments had the conversations? Do teams know how their work connects to the company’s bottom line? What would change if different functions aligned on how they support revenue generation?
That’s it for this week, Besties! Tune in for the Business, BS and Farbsy’s attempt to be in every single meeting ever. And since he did bring us some nice snacks, make sure you follow him on Instagram and also check out his Merch Store (just like our podcast, some is safe for work and some… maybe not so much).
And remember: just because a meeting exists doesn’t mean you have to be in it. Unless you’re Farbsy. Then apparently, you do.
Thank you for being here (Press 0 to let us know how we did)!
XOXO, Your HR Besties
